The Blessing in a Smile

February 26, 2009

A child’s smile is a beautiful blessing. To be the cause of that smile is nothing short of amazing. There’s no one  more open then a young child; Still unblemished by the world and  unjaded by the unharnesses of life. Most of their  sadness’s are quickly overcome instead of ruminating and wondering the “why mes ?”and “how comes?”.  Its amazing to watch a child process the most mundane things, and be surprised and elated when most adults  would think “So what, who cares, and big deal” before you could blink an eye.

So to be happy, or at least content in life, we need to bring the “wonder” back – we can worry about bringing “sexy back” later.

Open your Eyes. Again.

February 13, 2009

“Good Morning, Baby Sun!” is what my daughter shouts everytime she sees the sun.  It cracks me up, and always makes me happy to hear the joy in her cute 2 year old voice. There’s such happiness, and innocence there – such joy and wonder, still. So many people forget, as they get older to stop and enjoy – anything and everything around you. They are all gifts just waiting to be noticed and appreciated again. (weeellll, maybe not the that car that cut you off, but, that’s not what I’m talking about anyway)  One thought W/ the gods and goddesses of the old times was that as people stopped thinking and praying to them as often, they slowly disappeared (a pretty, romanticised thought- I kind of like it) Imagine if the world around us slowly started to disappear, because we all just kept rushing by, and forgetting to notice. Getting to work, getting the milk, the newspaper, etc.. All the while there’s this bright, beautiful, if not sometimes harsh world, right here, just waiting to be seen. Again.

Through a childs eyes the world is new, over and over. Always changing, always amazing.
